Chris Burden: Ghost Ships Exhibit

Where: Portland Art Museum
Address: 1219 SW Park Ave, Portland OR, 97205
Take a leisurely stroll through the Portland Art Museum and imagine a warm breezy day on the water. With the Chris Burden: Ghost Ships exhibit, your imagination will eliminate the thoughts of the rain outside. Chris Burden: Ghost Ships is a trio of actual sailboats that have been reconfigured and programmed by the artist to periodically unfurl sails, pivot rudders, and simulate navigation. The sailboats will seem to sail through the Museum’s sculpture court, with the beauty and innocent pleasure of sailing juxtaposed against the mystery and sinister undertones of unmanned boats sailing to who knows where. After viewing this installation don’t forget wander the rest of the museum for more culturally enriching art!
