  1. We just spent 2 nights at the Modera and were very impressed. We purchased a deal through Living Social with free parking and a bottle of wine included. Check in was quick and easy with friendly and helpful service. Our premier garden view room was almost perfect but when I saw that there was not a bedside table on”my” side I called the front desk and within minutes one was delivered and set up with a lamp. The room had an adjoining room and the door was the reason for no table. The room was on the small side but so well appointed and set up with every modern convenience you could ask for. The bed was very comfortable with great linens and pillows. Good tv with lots of channels. The bathroom is small but the tub and shower worked great and they provided my favorite bath products, Tarocco. The noise from the street and the courtyard below was a slight issue and the walls are not real sound proof (our neighbors had a 7 am wake up call) and sirens were heard often, but it’s a hotel in downtown Portland. We had dinner at El Centro one night and it was nice but we ate most of our meals downtown and we especially enjoyed Hubers. The easy access to the free transit, Max, was really nice and we traveled all over town. The value we received through Living Social made this a great deal but not sure we would pay full price and the parking fee too.

  2. I had stayed at hotel modera in the past, and it was much as I remembered. It is in a good location, with the max and streetcar not too far away, and just a short walk to the city center. Overall, the hotel was very clean. I was surprised however, at the condition of the shower. The coating in the tub was missing in places, and the caulking needed to be redone. Still, I will definitely stay here again. The outdoor courtyard is very nice, especially during the summer.

  3. We stayed at the hotel modera during our first ever Portland experience in 2010. It was a treasure. Got a great package deal through Expedia, and even had dinner downstairs. Their restaurant definitely gets crowded, so make sure you reserve if needed and be prepared for tight quarters and a lot of noise. We were there in November, so outside wasn’t an ideal place to hang out (although the seating and firepit looked wonderful). The rooms were well taken care of, and the front desk staff were very helpful in giving us the run-down of Portland. The cleaning crew was professional and did a great job. I would recommend staying here if you want to be immersed in the heart of Portland and have a great, ritzy experience without too much out of pocket. Look for a deal online!

  4. A very nice hotel with a great location which is a short walk away from the sights of downtown portland. Staff and everything was great but the only dissapoint is the very expensive car parking charges. I wished the hotel would specify how much parking is on thier websites so that travellers are aware of it.Despite this it was a very good hotel.

We have just spent three nights at the Modera which was the last destination of a five city holiday to celebrate 25 years of marriage. The Modera was outstanding in every aspect. We enjoyed a lovely leasurely lunch in the courtyard. But the really accolades are for the Concierge staff who beat the Hilton Chicago staff hands down.

Next time we visit from New Zealand we will be sure to book in again.
